AWeber vs GetResponse - Who crosses the Pricing barrier

When comparing AWeber with GetResponse, the GetResponse ‘Basic’ plans are probably the ones to focus on since they are similar, feature wise, to all the AWeber plans.

At the starter end of things, GetResponse is unquestionable the more cost-effective solution. If you have a list with 500 to 1,000 subscribers on it, you’re looking at a $14 per month ($168 per year) saving by using the Getresponse ‘Email’ plan rather than AWebers equivalent.

For lists of over 1,000 subscribers in size, each GetResponse ‘Basic’ plan viably comes in $4 per month cheaper than the equivalent AWeber plan (an annual saving of $48).

Moreover, GetResponse offers sizeable discounts if you pay upfront for one or two years: 18% and 30% respectively.

There’s also a 30% to 50% discount available to nonprofits (with the more generous discount being available if you display the GetResponse logo on your website and allow GetResponse to market you as a partner).

Discounts are also available with AWeber, but they are not quite as generous: if you pay annually, you save 14.9% on the regular plan.

However that AWeber’s completely free plan makes the product attractive to brand new businesses.

Overall, I’d say that GetResponse is the overall winner on pricing, but this is definitely not the only thing you should base your decision on.

Let’s start with one of the absolute necessities. No matter how many features a platform offers, it might be useless if it’s complicated and difficult to grasp.

You’re getting an email marketing solution to make things easier for you. This means that it should have a clear user interface with organized features, so you can work your way around it in a short time.

Let’s have a quick look at what you should expect when you’re getting started with the two platforms. After all, the two services take pride in their user-friendly interfaces.

Since AWeber is all about ease of use, you should expect a lot of similar qualities in its control panel.

In AWeber, everything is also easy to work around even if you’ve never used a similar platform before. Everything has enough explanation to keep you well informed about what every button does.

Similar to GetResponse, AWeber also allows you to add contacts to your list the way you like. This can be either one by one or bulk through uploading a CSV file directly.

What’s great about AWeber is the harmony between simplicity and adjustability. While everything is straightforward, you can still customize some aspects of your emails.

Of course, you won’t find as many features as in GetResponse. However, if you’re all about email marketing, you shouldn’t be missing anything major. The interface is super clean and easy to understand with an even smaller learning curve than GetResponse.

Verdict : As you can see, both platforms do a great job of keeping their services simple. The dashboards and control panels are smooth and nothing feels overly complicated.

However, this one should go to GetResponse for multiple reasons. First, the “Quick Action” button really makes the whole session much easier and quicker to go through. It’s a great option for those who are busy but don’t want to compromise on quality.

Also, the dashboard feels a bit more intuitive with more features without cluttering or distractions.

The first thing to remember before you start sending out emails is that your messages have to look good and modern. If you are still using templates from 2010 in 2021, your emails aren’t going to make a mark and grab your customer’s attention.


In GetResponse, you can create a template from scratch or use one of the pre-built templates for email campaigns. To get started, click the Create newsletter tab from the dashboard and pick between ‘HTML’ or ‘drag-and-drop’ email editor.

If you want to create email campaigns within minutes, go for the drag-and-drop email editor.

This gives you access to what seems like unlimited email templates. It’s probably only a few hundred, but there are numerous filtering options. These pre-built email templates are responsive, which means they can easily fit any device (PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc.).

AWeber also offers a large library of more than 700 email templates. 

Verdict : Though you may find some of them outdated, old-fashioned and repetitive, there are many more templates in AWeber than in GetResponse.

Autoresponders are your bread and butter when you’re dealing with email marketing. They’re the emails that your website sends automatically to your subscribers according to your settings.

After that, he receives offers and discounts in the following days, and so on. This email marketing strategy is also known as “drip campaigns”.

Creating an autoresponder in GetResponse is simple yet powerful. You can control everything that goes into the email. The autoresponder gives you multiple trigger options, such as making a purchase, having a birthday, and more.

It won’t take you long until you discover that GetResponse gives you options for an autoresponder for all kinds of triggers. In fact, it can be as simple as when a customer abandons an online shopping cart!

What’s noticeable is that AWeber isn’t as comprehensive as GetResponse when it comes to autoresponders.

Verdict : It’s clear that GetResponse has a better overall autoresponder. While both have great basic functionality in their autoresponders, you can get a lot more if you opt for GetResponse.
